We already covered a few pages on places to visit in the hills east of Chiang Mai. If you are planning a trip out there to visit e.g. the amazing The Giant treehouse cafe or the pittoresk village of Mae Kampong, it might be worth staying for a night. Mae Kampong is worth a visit during sunset when the lights turn. Driving back to Chiang Mai afterwards might not be the best option. Luckily there are plenty of beautiful options in the area to stay at.

One of those places is the Stream House. Based on the images and reviews we had seen online, we were excited to get there. And we did not get disappointed!

The Stream House – main room

The Stream House is not a full size hotel. It offers a few different rooms. We were pleasantly surprised about the size of the room. In fact, we actually had a dining room and a sleeping room. A terrace overlooking the stream next to the hotel was a nice addition.

In the area are a few small restaurants, but it might be worth going to Mae Kampong for a meal. There are some really nice options there to try e.g. the northern Sai-Ua sausage or the famous Khao Soi soup. For breakfast we had a nearby restaurant deliver a delicious Jok (typical Thai rice porridge that many Thai eat for breakfast).
