During our spring time visit to the north of Thailand we stayed at the Aksara Heritage hotel in Chiang Mai’s city center. I mean inside the old city area within the square formed by the Mae Kha canal (moat). We were absolutely charmed by the unique and chic style of the hotel.
After checking into the hotel with the help of the friendly staff, you enter an area with the pool and a terrace of the restaurant where you can enjoy a nice cold drink or have a meal including some of the famous local dishes. Also in the night the lights make this a very pleasant place to hang around.
Not just the grounds and general areas, the rooms were stunning as well. They have a unique style, were kept in top condition, and always very clean.
The hotel is just a short walk away from the Tha Phae Gate on the east city of the old city center. Also the beautiful Wat Chedi Luang grounds are nearby.
Getting here
As the hotel is in the center of Chiang Mai it is easy to reach with all kinds of transport. If you fly into Chiang Mai take a taxi and you get here in just about 15 minutes. As we were travelling through the region we had our own rental car. The hotel has a few parking spots to the side of the hotel. As space is limited they do recommend a reservation of the parking spot.
